Easters 2012

Welcome to the Hildoer Easter-Fest 2012 recap. I, your computer, will be your host for this fantasitcalacious journey into the world of Hildoer sport-egging.

No egg-related sporting event is complete without a fashion show. To kick off this year's egg-o-rama the kids dawned their best, and only, easter outfits. Here we see Lilly in a lovely pink windover (I made that up) with white lace ribbon hip-tracer-?-belt-thing. Jackson and Landon are sporting stylish green gingham button-ups. Landon is also sporting some velcro lace sneakers, suitable for any billionaire bachelor super-egg-hunter.

In this year's treasure trove are these hen-laid, hand-painted, bunny-hidden, Darwinish-nightmare Easter eggs. These are the most coveted of all the eggs, because they will go into an egg-salad suitable for kings and fathers.

Now, for some live (not really) egg-hunt action. Pay attention, there is lots of dialogue. Also, it is long, bring a lunch or large snack or pillow.

The games are over and the treasures won. Here the kids celebrate with their ceremonial hat-a-ma-jigs. Lookin' good kids.

Lilly turns 5!

Lilly turned five yesterday!  Unfortunately, everyone in our family had strep throat so we had to postpone her birthday party  till next week but she didn't mind to much.  We had fun going on a tour to a candy factory (we had been on our antibiotics for over 24 hours), her favorite "rocket ship" park and ended the day with making homemade pizzas and a cookie cake.  Here are her answers to our "Birthday Questions"...

The yummiest food to eat is:  Cheese Pizza
My favorite show/movie to watch is: The Little Mermaid & Scooby Doo
I love when I get to read: "The Little Princess"
The best thing about preschool is: playing outside.
The worst thing about preschool is: sitting by the people I don't want to.
The coolest person on earth is: Landon and my mom.
I am really super good at: Sharing.
My favorite color is: pink.
The best place in the world to be is: Kansas (Me: Kansas?) Lilly: Yes, because they have an indoor pool.
When I grow up I want to be: in a Rock Star Person but I won't wear real tattoos, I'll wear fake ones.
If I could do one thing all day long it would be: talk to my mommy.
I really, really do not like to eat: Meatballs (she also does not like Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches)
My best friends are: Caroline and Jenna
Jesus is: our Savior.
When I was little I used to: think we should eat the outside of a pinapple.

Lilly lights up our life.  She says the funniest things and she really is the "sharer" of our family. Whatever she has she is always willing to share.  She has been my biggest helper with Landon - she'll make him laugh while I make dinner, or she'll run upstairs to get me more diapers and she's happy to do it.  I always have the greatest/funniest conversations with her (Lilly: So Daddy is from your Ami, right?  No, Lilly, Miami.  Lilly: That's what I said... Your ami.) I will be so sad when she goes to Kindergarten in the Fall but I know she is ready and so excited.

Happy Birthday, Lilly!!

Landon at 6 months

This month Landon turned 6. Well, 6 months actually. He had some ground breaking firsts in the last couple months: sledding, eating real food, scooting and exploration.

At the end of November we went sledding for Jackson's birthday. Breckenridge is our favorite sledding spot. It isn't the fastest hill, but it is the nicest venue with a sled friendly park. Landon got his first ride on sled during this family excursion. He really enjoyed it, until I had to put on the breaks (dig my boots into the snow) and we were both showered in heavy, cold, powdery snow. Once I got the the snow out of his eyes, he was happy again.

After Landon's wild ride, he retired to his buggy for the duration of the trip. We bundled him up nicely and gave him a half-empty water bottle to play with. He cooed and babbled with pleasure until the rest of us couldn't climb the hill anymore and decided it was time to head home.

Landon's other first is food. Like his Daddy, Landon loves food. Here we see him gumming the life out of a half eaten slice of supreme pizza. He was happy as a lark (as they say...and whatever a lark is) until  the pizza was sucked free of delicious flavor and only a doughy, soggy pile of mush remained. I ate the mush. No, not really.

Landon also likes to explore. Now that he can scoot around, generally moving in the direction he intended, he has way more options for exploring. Previously he had to rely on me carrying him around like I was his giant, robotic man carrier, all the while hoping that I would wonder toward whatever thing he was looking at and reaching for.

But, with the advent of scooting and rolling he gets around to all the dangerous stuff just fine now. Here we see him making a move for a glass ornament on the Christmas tree following a brief photo shoot with Mommy.

So far we are extremely satisfied with the newest Hildoer youngling. He can't drive a car yet, but otherwise he meets all the requirements to be a certified Hildoer man.
